Choosing the Right Tint for the Maximum Benefit

As you consider enhancing your vehicle with window tinting, Keystone Detail presents two premium tint choices - carbon and ceramic. Both are designed to provide excellent protection from harmful UV rays, block excessive solar heat, reduce glare for improved visibility, and protect your interior from fading or cracking. But which one is right for your needs?  When it comes to choosing between the two tints, it depends on your budget and expectations for protection. All window tint installed here has a limited lifetime warranty against fading, delamination, bubbling and cracking.

Carbon Window Tint

An Efficient & Affordable Option For Improved Aesthetics and Comfort

Carbon window tint contains a special type of polyester film that is infused with microscopic carbon particles. These particles create an effective barrier that blocks out a large percentage of UV rays, about 99%, and the film's darker color works to reduce the amount of heat that enters through glass and into your vehicle interior. In terms of cost, heat rejection, and UV protection, carbon tint strikes a reliable balance.

Ceramic Window Tint

A Premium Option for Those Seeking Unparalleled Protection & Durability

Composed of non-metallic ceramic particles, ceramic window tint is typically lighter in shade compared to its carbon counterpart. Moreover, this type of film possesses superior strength and durability, offering increased resistance to scratches and other types of damage as well as unsurpassed UV and IR protection for passengers and interior surfaces alike. While ceramic tint does come with superior durability and sun protection, it is priced higher than the carbon variant due to its premium-grade materials and heat blocking capabilities.

Understanding Pennsylvania's Window Tinting Laws

Window tinting laws in Pennsylvania are a bit different compared to other states and often need clarification. The laws are not only specific but also vary based on the type of vehicle. Whether you own a passenger vehicle or a multipurpose one like an SUV or van, it's important to understand the regulations to ensure compliance.

For passenger vehicles in Pennsylvania, there is a requirement for a minimum of 70% light transmittance on all windows. This rule, however, exempts the windshield where any darkness is permitted for the top 3 inches. In the case of multipurpose vehicles, the law stipulates that windshields and front-side windows must also maintain a minimum light transmittance of 70%. For the back side windows and rear window, there are no restrictions on the darkness of the tint.

We will install any shade you'd like on your vehicle however if going below the legally outlined limits you assume any responsibility in the event of being pulled over or sited for window film.

Still unsure about what is best for you and your specific vehicle? No problem! Contact our team today, and we will be happy to discuss your options and provide the best window tint solution for you.

  • How long does window tinting last?

Window tint can generally last anywhere from five to ten years. However, there are factors such as the type of film used, the quality of installation, and even exposure to extreme temperatures that can affect its longevity.  Additionally, proper care and maintenance can help prolong the life of your tinted windows. Our dedicated team uses only the highest quality materials and installation techniques, ensuring a longer-lasting window tint.

  • Does window tinting really help keep a car cooler?

Yes! Window tinting helps to reduce the amount of heat that enters a car’s interior, which in turn keeps it cooler. By blocking out up to 99% of UV rays, window tint can help keep your vehicle at a comfortable temperature and protect occupants from damaging sun exposure. Additionally, some types of window film, such as ceramic window films are designed to reflect infrared light, further reducing the amount of warmth entering the car.

  • Does window tinting affect visibility?

When installed properly, window tint does not significantly reduce visibility. In fact, some types of window films can actually enhance visibility by reducing glare and providing a clearer view in certain lighting conditions. However, it is important to choose the right film for your vehicle so that you don’t end up with a tint that is too dark and affects visibility on the road. Our professional staff would be more than willing to help you choose the best film type and coverage for your needs.

  • Can window tint be removed?

Yes, window tint can be safely removed from car windows when it becomes worn or outdated. The Keystone Detail team is trained to not only correctly install window tint, but also to safely and expertly remove it without damaging your vehicle.

  • Does window tinting require any special care?

Proper maintenance can help ensure that your window tint lasts as long as possible. Avoid ammonia-based cleaning products, and instead use a mild soap and water solution to clean the windows. Also, avoid using harsh scrubbing pads or abrasive materials which can scratch the film. With regular cleaning and maintenance, you should be able to enjoy your tinted windows for many years to come!
